Each member serves on one of three standing committees or serves as an executive board officer. Our committees generally meet once a month during September through May, and otherwise as needed. Committee members decide as a group when they will meet. The following provides a brief description of each committee, including information about past projects:
The Community Service Committee focuses on organizing service projects and events that benefit the Elmhurst Community, as well the surrounding communities. Some of the projects that we have supported in the past are: Adopt-A-Family (providing holiday gifts), the Elmhurst Park District “Adopt a Park” program, the “ABC’s of Babysitting” Class which we offer to Elmhurst teens, food drives for local food pantries, Humanitarian Service Project’s “Children’s Birthday Project”, Lombard Junior Women’s Club’s TLC Camp for young cancer patients, and Special Treats for Meals on Wheels.
WAYS & MEANS
Ways and Means raises money to support the Club's philanthropic endeavors. Our large events have predetermined beneficiaries, but we also do smaller events to support our other projects. In the past our major events have been the Elmhurst Kitchen Expedition, a one day house walk and Tickled Pink, a boutique vendor fair and with activities for “young girls.”
The Membership committee works to maintain and grow EJWC membership. They are responsible for planning supplements to our monthly meetings, new member education, social events for our members as well as member’s spouses, and our yearly Kick Off Event in September. Some of the events that our members have been offered in the past are Dinner with Spouses, book club, movie club, and couples evenings out.
